We will be holding a Leave No Trace day on campus on April 12, 2017 with a celebration in the afternoon with Dr. Bronners Snofoam party. Leave No Trace (LNT) is a common philosophy for campers everywhere which basically encourages humans to pick up after themselves and leave a minimum footprint on the environment. For this Leave No Trace event, we are starting with the kids’ immediate environment of their school campus to instill this principle. Each class will be assigned an area of the school to look for “MOOP”, matter out of place, which includes waste as well as items of value out of place. They can also pick a beautification project to help with for that area like weeding, washing, and sweeping. We highly encourage parents who are able to volunteer to join their child’s class for the LNT day.
To drive home the value of the kids’ role as stewards of the school, Dr. Bronner’s soap company has volunteered to come to campus at the end of the Leave No Trace day and give the kids a snofoam party with their signature fire truck! Dr. Bronner’s believes strongly in LNT principles and we are very grateful for their generosity in bringing this amazing experience to our students. The foam used is made with their 100% biodegradable and chemical free soap, air, and water and is safe for clothes and eyes. It is important that children come to school on April 12th in clothes and shoes that can get wet and dirty, bring a towel, and have a change of clothes for after the snofoam party so they can be dry and ready to go home at 3pm.
We invite you to come and be a part of the celebration if you wish. We think it will be really fun and exciting for both the kids and the staff. We will update you with times as the day gets closer but it will be held at the end of the day if you would like to plan and attend.
